Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Hey! So it sounds like your a alto, me to and ive auditioned for about 12 musicals so ive got a decent selection of songs :) In order of my favorites to least: The wizard and I -wicked Forget about the boy -thoroughly modern millie Chim Chim Cheree -Marry Poppins The Trolley song -meet me in saint lewis Wouldnt it be loverly -my fair lady Alone in the universe- Seussical the musical No good deed -wicked Over the rainbow- The wizerd of oz Stepsisters lament -Cinderella There has got to be sumthing better -pocahontas(i dont think thats the name but if you fing the songs from pocahontas the musical its the first line in one and its good alto song) My favorite things -The sound of music 16 going on 17 -the sound of music!. Here are some great websites: For song ideas: http://www!.musicaltheatreaudition!.com/jo!.!.!. For lyrics: http://www!.allmusicals!.com/ Hope this helps! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com What kind of show is it!? What kind of characters are you good at playing!? First of all, I would suggest an uptempo song, or if it's a ballad, not too depressing!. Depressing songs are generally not good for auditions!. Melth - good suggestion, but it's pretty much Judy Garland's song!. That's the problem with signature songs: people will always compare you to the original!. This being the case, you might want to try something from "Ragtime", another Stephen Flahrety show!. Just stay away from "Your Daddy's Son," which is heartbreaking, but incredibly depressing and difficult to sing for some!. Something by Stephen Schwartz - which is pretty light and frothy stuff, but fun - would be good too, and appropriate for Seussical!. Steer clear of "Wicked", which EVERYONE will be singing!. Maybe go for something from "Pippin", or "The Magic Show!." Break a leg! Ta!. -TamoraWww@QuestionHome@Com I always use "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for my auditions, it's simple, easy and short!. Most of the time they cut you off before you are finished anyways!. I am an alto and this always works for me, I've used it 3 times as an audition piece and got a part all 3 times!. Hope this helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com use the search engine on musicaltheatreaudition!.com!. for voice type put "mezzo"!. you also want something contemporary!. be sure to check their list of overdone songs because you dont want to do those!. maybe do "part of your world" from a little mermaid!. or "let me entertain you" from gypsy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com sing a song that lots of people know but not too common or annoying but you still like!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
