A couple notes:
At my school it is required for martial artists to write an essay on a topic of their choice before they test for their black belt!. I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to write a poem!.
The people who will read this know me well, but for you all I’ll clarify a couple things:
Dave = my husband who started martial arts before me
“Piece of cake” = significant because it’s one of the Master’s favorite sayings
Self-Confidence
I didn’t think I could do this
I was quite apathetic,
But something seemed to be amiss:
I wished I was athletic!.
I really wanted to know what
Had Dave so captivated!.
I kind of thought he was a nut!.
I wasn’t motivated!.
I didn’t think I could go far,
But when I heard "Nice job, Ma’am!"
My confidence rose like a star!.
I had to think "Yes, I can!"
I really wanted to know why
Black belts thought I could be good,
But of course they knew that I
Could be if I though I could!.
I didn’t think I had the drive,
Courage or dedication,
But my confidence came alive
Thanks to their inspiration!.
Now confident in my own right
I suppose you could say that
I have to shine with my own light
So I can glow off the mat!.
Now in everything that I do
I too will give, not just take!.
In whatever I pursue
Anything is “piece of cake!.”Www@QuestionHome@Com
