This question covers all worlds -- from the physical to the spiritual!.

First we might say, 'Resonance, resonance with oneself accords becoming and making a man!.

Ours today, in this country, the USA, has become an effeminate culture, which does no longer prompt the impulses that trigger natural forces and ways within the animal, which is man and men!. Living in modern society speedily becomes a sedentary thing from the outset of a man's birth, in which there exists no natural response to and sense of life around; for all has fallen to technological dependency and sloth, and men, alas, have forsaken their native moorings for the comfortable, kept environments!. All has become likened to cocoons!. And difficult is it to communicate with the modern-day man -- except perhaps where professional athletics and sports come to bear!.

Modeling with those things and men that resonate with you puts you on the pathway to becoming and knowing what makes a man!. Sadly there exists no longer a true and natural rite of passage as once was practiced but is still employed in indigenous cultures the world over; wherein men demonstrate to boys the things that underpin manhood!.

And so this rite of passage occurred as boys did and do come of age around, say, 12 or 13 years of age!. It serves as a grounding and base and commencement point that embarks upon showing what responsibility is and gaining familiarity with what is natural to men then mastering these things -- that of taking in systemology, understanding of principle, factoring in consequences of actions, and learning and then mastering the applications to how these interplay with and underlie all life!.

Men are naturally given to interests that take in forces, magnitudes, and dimensions and measures of things; are naturally signatured to attract to themselves those things that involve spontaneity, chance, exploration and therewith, great spaciousness!. They are naturally the hunters, gatherers, explorers, warriors, inventors and aggressors!.

But today in the modern world, these features are feared or simply advised against nurturing and developing!. But they 'are' there in the very genetic code of the man-child!.

You will observe that even amid the inanity of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, men still enlist in the armed forces!. This because they are responding to what is only a natural calling occurring deep within themselves -- it is all there in the genes!. And so enlisting in the military has become their own self-initiating rite of passage, so to speak, a natural summoning that is closest to a man's proclivity and energetic signature!.

Entering college is another; however, matriculation in college is considerably ineffective in truly according men their manhood, for the college environment is a kept, comparatively safe environment and does not teach men how to bear with the extremes and eddies and trends that occur in Nature -- cold, hunger, self-reliance, aloneness, the sense of sufficiency and not excess, communication with all things and species, the know-how to improvise, to invent, to counsel others on how to forebear the surges of life, and like things that regard life and living so as to not interfere with others or cross boundaries or intrude in those worlds and affairs in which one must have no business or interest!.

Men today have too little experience with Nature and the forces of nature -- this will not come by what one draws from the Schools!.

This can only be had while one is in the midst of living, whereupon you are faced with those things that accord both you and the environments with which you are involved, taking in all things that constitute living -- the arts, social exchange, coming to know your self and being comfortable with whom you are and seeing yours as normal, as differientiated from others' takes on what is normal for them; selflessness is another, which skill has to do with self-preservation and is a derivative testament of the rite of passage spoken about here!.

With this come certain mentors, who are men who already know, and whose characteristics and demeanors trigger those dormant characteristics (or engrams) in you that now need awakened!.

And there is the spiritual component!. And there is the accepting those things that you like and don't like; coming to know your gifts and talents as well as your weaknesses and drawbacks, accepting what these are, and then undertaking to correct them!.

Finally, doing no harm to others or to other worlds and realms!.

Lets not take this out of proportion, once you turn 18 your mind is seen as developed enough to be called a man and to take responsibility for your actions!. Some prefer to say you are a man when you turn 21 due to the physical and mental proportions of that person meeting a break even!. You stop growing fully at 21 and have more experience than an 18 year old in life!. I would say a man is 21 but 18 is just as good, whatever floats your boat!.
