Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If you are really serious about singing and you want to pursue it in college then you want a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in vocal performance!. If you want to be a serious musician i think it is necessary to study in college!. Your voice is the most important aspect of singing, yes, but in college with a BM degree you learn theory, aural skills, piano, acting, and also recieve private lessons!. A good voice teacher is the key to success- they will help you with technique, repertior selection and much more!. also, you didn't mention what type of singing you do, classical, pop!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com A music performance degree will help, but a minor in composition or musicology will be even better!. Ultimately, if you take all the time you would be spending on getting college general education credits (which is a large amount of time) and use it to practice and develop networks with other musicians, you might be the best performer ever!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I am currently a music major with an emphasis in vocal performance!. This is, however, and unnecessary major!.
