Two boys grow up to join the Army Air Corps, the father of one is a drunk, abusive, pilot from the first world war who runs a crop dusting service -- this is where the boys learn early on how to handle high performance aircraft!. The boys sign up together, go in together, go through flight training together and still manage to get stationed in Hawaii together!. One falls in love and then volunteers to go to England, joining the Eagle Squadron, flying Spitfires against the Germans!. He is shot down and listed as MIA!. His grief stricken buddy and girl friend take solace in one anothers company and before too long become an item!. Our combat experienced flier finds his way back to Hawaii just before the attack at Pearl only to find his best friend and his girl friend together!. She, being a nurse, takes charge of a panicked ward full of wounded as the attack is taking place!. The boys make amends and commandeer a couple of P-40 Warhawks stationed at an outlying field that has yet to be attacked by the ravaging Japanese marauders and together, they join in an epic battle against both the odds and the menacing Japanese!. After the battle, they get selected by Lt!.Col!. Jimmy Doolittle to fly Mitchell B-25 bombers against Tokyo, Japan!. She listens in at a highly secured radio facility as the bombers make their strike!. Those guys run out of fuel and have to crash their bombers before reaching China!. They get attacked by Japanese foot soldiers and one dies!. The other carries his body to China where he then escorts it back to Hawaii for yet another tearful reunion with the little nurse miss!. The movie was extremely loosely based on the exploits of two fliers who did engage the Japanese!. One died in the attack, the other was shot down by Americans eacr to shoot anything flying!.
