During the time of the slave trade European settlement in West Africa was limited to small trading posts on the coast!. They rarely penetrated inland, and rarely conducted slave raids!. They didn't have to!. The slaves were brought to the coast by other Africans or Arab slave traders!.

Apart from southern Africa most of Africa was colonised by Europeans decades after the end of the slave trade!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know for sure!. I have heard this is true, but I was not there so I cannot verify or discard this theory!. I will say that above and beyond all slavery was the one biggest mistake EVER made by white people!. Period!. PERIOD!. !! EXCLAMATION POINT !. Heck NO! whites came onto there land for food or what ever they saw different color people and decided they were useful for work!.!.!.they could talk in there language anyways how in the world could they even sell themselves!? ask your friend that!. What I learned in my history class was that Africans would sell members of enemy tribes to the slave collects(I can't think of a better phase for them)Www@QuestionHome@Com
