they made three types of mandates: A, B, and C!.

A were the most advances countries (like India) and C were the most unadvanced (like the African colonies!.)

during WWI, the countries promised their countries more rights/independence in return for supporting them during the war (especially Britain)!. after the war, when it was not given to them, there were independence movements!. some of the first were in india and egypt!. ghandi was one of the leaders in india!.
after these independence movements, the ideas spread to other colonies!.
