hello

ROADS
=======
One of the reasons that the Roman Empire was so successful was that the Romans made big improvements to transport / roads!.
- enabled the Romans to move armies and trade goods and to communicate news!.
- at its peak, the Roman road system spanned 53,819 miles (85,004 km)

For military, commercial, and political reasons, the Romans became adept at constructing roads, which they called viae!. They were always intended primarily as carriage roads, the means of carrying material from one location to another!. These long highways were very important in maintaining both the stability and expansion of the empire!. The legions made good time on them, and some are still used millennia later!.

the romans built forts to defend the empire

aquaducts to supply water

a lot of people outside of rome liked these improvements and therefore supported roman rule

ARMY LEGIONS
=============
-Roman discipline, organization and systematization sustained combat effectiveness over a longer period!. These elements appear throughout the legion in training, logistics, field fortification
-The influence of Roman military and civic culture, as embodied particularly in the heavy infantry legion, gave the Roman military consistent motivation and cohesion
-Roman military equipment, particularly armour, was far more ubiquitous and heavy, especially in the late Republican / Early Imperial era, than that of most of their opponents!. Soldiers equipped with shields, helmets and highly effective body armor had a major advantage over warriors protected, in many cases, with nothing other than their shields, particularly in a prolonged engagement
-Roman engineering skills were second to none in the ancient world, and their mastery of both offensive and defensive siege warfare, specifically the construction and investiture of fortifications, was another major advantage for the Roman Legions

TRADE
======
the roads made trade with rome quicker and cheaper, so many conquered countries were able to make a lot of money by sending goods to rome

these goods were taxed by rome, and the taxes funded a large armyWww@QuestionHome@Com
