No, I did not know that piece of information - interesting!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Jamie is certainly NOT "the feminine form of James" or "the English form of Jacqueline"!. It is a boy's name, the Scottish familiar form of James - the equivalent of the English "Jimmy"!.
It is true that the French equivalent of James is Jacques, and the feminine form of Jacques is Jacqueline!. As there was no native English feminine form, Jacqueline (spelt various ways) was adopted into English!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
JAMIE
Gender: Masculine & Feminine
Usage: Scottish, English
Pronounced: JAY-mee [key]
Originally a Lowland Scots diminutive of JAMES!. Since the late 19th century it has also been used as a feminine form!.
