Question: How can I flatten and tone my abs and still have the flexibility to do belly rolls like a belly dancers!?
I know it sounds like a stupid question, but how is it that some belly dancers have flat stomachs and look tone and still can move like snakes!. I know that one of the benefits of belly dancing is toning but I dont want my stomach to be tight I just want it flat and flexibleWww@QuestionHome@Com

It's true that if you have six-pack abs, you'll find it harder to do belly rolls!. Strength and flexibility are at opposite ends of the spectrum - just like most rugby players can't kick their leg very high, because they've built up short bulky muscles instead of long streamlined ones!.

However, it's perfectly possible to have a flattish stomach and still do belly rolls, provided you practise stomach crunching exercises AND belly roll exercises together!. If you have very little fat on your stomach, belly rolls will be harder to see, that's all!.

Belly rolls aren't a function of flexibility; they're a function of muscle control!. Crunches and sit-ups will tone your abs, but you will need to practice-practice-practice belly rolls to get that long smooth ripple!. Practice camels, andalusian hip rolls, and rib-cage isolations too -- all of these will add to your muscle control over your abdominals at the same time they strengthen your abs -- and add flexibility at the same time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

immediately after you do ab exercises you need to spend like 15 mins streaching out your abs!. whenever i do my ab work, i feel really tight so it is so important to stretch it out! also you should restreach the next day for like 10 mins!. it should really help!. doing bridges is a really good bb stretch, its good for your back too!Www@QuestionHome@Com
