Your year-round training and grades sound pretty good!. (The true test of your grades will come in high school!.) My daughter was also Cecchetti-trained and it served her quite well until high school!. But she also supplemented her year-round training with summer intensives, starting when she was 12!. You didn't mention whether you've attended any selective summer intensives!. In order to measure up to a selective school that draws from a large, national pool of well-trained dancers, you need to start training with that pool as soon as possible!. If you can pass the auditions to get accepted to intensives with national audition tours, you stand a decent chance of getting accepted to Tisch!.

My daughter visited Tisch when she was in 9th or 10th grade and decided that it wasn't for her!. While they offer ballet and expect a high level of ballet training in the students they accept, their primary focus is on modern dance and my daughter was looking for a more equal focus between ballet and modern dance!. (Tisch may say they're equal, but their performance opportunities are mostly modern dance!.) She also wanted a dance program that offered more jazz!. She attended a triple-emphasis program that is as tough to get into as Tisch and has also attended several summer programs in her college years alongside Tisch students!. She graduated in May and is already being hired by contemporary ballet companies (her primary love)!.

My recommendations to you, then:
Start visiting Tisch and other college programs as soon as you can; 8th grade is a great time to start!. Try to see their shows and later (9th & 10th grades) observe their classes!. While pre-professional ballet dancers should be taking 13+ hours a week at your age, if you're aiming to be a modern dancer, then 11+ hours a week is OK for 8th grade!. Increase that by 1 hour per year and be sure to enroll in intensive programs over the summer for at least 4 weeks!. Meanwhile, your training should focus more on ballet (plus pointe), modern and jazz and less on tap!. And you really don't need lyrical - nor "contemporary" if it's just another version of lyrical!. Tisch is definitely not looking for competition-style dancers!. For NYU, you'll need to keep your grades up in high school, even if that means not over-extending yourself in honors or AP classes!. (But by all means take hard classes if you're up to the challenge!)

Tisch does offer it's own summer intensive which might give you an "edge," but it's really expensive!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You don't sound bad; however, the cecchetti method, as I have seen, has produced weak dancers!. I have danced Vagonova all of my life, and so far I have been accepted into all American auditions I have tried out for (ABT, Boston, Austin, NYC, and a few others)!. However, outside of the US, I am only about average!. You are a more well rounded dancer though, that will help!. How often a week do you take class, and for how long!? For a professional dancer, you should have 13+hours a week at leastWww@QuestionHome@Com

maybe you could post a vid of you dancing so i could better help you!. do u have a youtube account!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It looks like you are a well-rounded dancer, which will help!. A good balance of grades, talent and passion will put you to the top of the pile of applicants!. A good way to guarantee your admission is to check out summer programs at Tisch for interested high-school students, or to see who is on faculty there and see where else they teach and try and take their class and make an impression!. Or take their class and straight up tell them your plans!. Most people in the dance world are very helpful and will at least point you in the right direction!.

With enough networking and some personality, you'll be on your way in no time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey omg I don't have an answer for you but I hope somebody does because I want to go to tisch too!. I'm also in 8th grade and I get strait a's!. I take French too but we don't have high school classes at my school its my 11th year dancing and I take ballet tap jazz lyrical pointe and modern I'm probaly not as good or as serious as you I have no idea what level I am in ballet because we just have class and my teacher just teaches the dance I not awful though because I have won scholarships at conventions!. I think its really funny that you want to go to nyu too and I think that you would be able to get in with your achidemics but their dance program seems amazing so if you are really good you might be able to get in but I don't think I willWww@QuestionHome@Com
