it is used everyday in our life now.....on TV...on cartoons
in movies....

in old time....2D animations were there....the procedure for
that was traditional...that animators used to draw picture frame by frame....then flipping 24 or 16 frames per second pictures used to move like live pictures....

nowdays computer took over animations completely...
programs like 3D studio MAX,MAYA are used to make animations in 3D...in this 3D designing terminology model are made in programs...programs provide digital environment in which you can make a model of any character or scene...and you can move them virtually with help of software which provides virtual 3D environment....with X Y and Z axis...so you get whole environment instead of plain...

and with help of motion track...and sequence movement recording...you can create a live picture from drawings..
