Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There is purposeful and and there is 'sequential' - these are very different yet related. An event may be the outcome of a chain of events - rather than a purposeful, consciously motivated act. So for an obvious example: Acid rain. This is not an purposeful event but neither is it random.. It is a direct result of indirect action. (ie. environmental pollutants caused by industrial manufacturing emissions). The event of acid rain is linked to purposeful actions, but is not purposeful in itself - neither is it random. The whole universe is powered by cause and effect, and to a lesser scale purposeful or random occurrences. |
