No rat races; simply the occasional sack races with a buddy. No backaches, just belly aches from too many halloween sweets. No real life monsters, simply the one I dreamed up under my bed, to get a few extra minutes with mom before the lights go out! I can make a mistake, and it is the most natural thing in the world; my friends will forget it by lunchtime. I still dream BIG and insist that I will have to be the astronaut that ocasionally flies to outerspace , when I'm not a veteranarian who models for Vogue magazine! Basically, the world is still all mine!

Homework, perchance?

Magic, recess, fairies, kickball, trick-or-treating, Christmas morning, milk and cookies, Sesame Street, matchbox cars, mud, bikes with tassels, best friends, Barbies, pretending, but most advantageous of all, getting picked up when you're hurt, sad, scared, or lonely.

Being kids is having the luxury of growing up. Their outlook of the world is one of sweet innocence. Asking non-stop questions helps them paint reality in more ways than one. The world is unfolding before them, at first vague and then clear. Mom and Dad would laugh at the silly and awkward things they're capable of doing. Really, it's nice to go back in time and be a kid again!

Innocence. The ability to believe in the best things in life is something adults lack. We have seen things that a child would never dream of. The horrors of loving someone you can't have is something a child will never experience. The knowledge that you may not have enough food tomorrow is something a child will never know. The pain of losing someone so dear to you is something a child will never have to feel. The terror of having to give your body, your life, to protect your family will be something no child will have to do.

Being a kid is much better than being an adult because kids do not have the responsibilities that adults have. Responsibilities are not fun; the more of them you have the less child- like you become. However, adult and kid are relative. To a 96 year old,a 50 year old is a kid. Although you can not go backward in age, you can change your perception of where you fall on the "kid/adult" time line. So, I would have to presume that even though kids can be an adults later, adults can perceive themselves as kids long into their lives by hanging out with older people!
