How can I start freelance writing?

Question:I'm 17 years old and in college. I would like to get started on freelance writing.
I would prefer freelance writing jobs which accept material through email.
Where can I find legitimate freelance writing jobs. I want to find jobs that pay for contributions because I need to money to stay in college.

First you'll have to master your craft. Build credentials. Attend or conduct seminars on writing even with your circle of friends. Do networking with your friends and spread the word about your writing services. Submit articles, short stories, etc. for publication. Innovate and be original.

Colleges normally have an enormous amount of information on things like this. Check with either the journalism department or the writing and rhetoric program. Different colleges call writing programs different things. There are all sorts of writing magazines that ask for submission. Almost all submissions are done now by e-mail and there are some on line sites that list companies looking for freelance writers.
