Question: Does anyone else think Stephenie Meyer is a scourge on literature!?
Seriously, her books are drivel!. They have no substance, it's like a Harlequin novel with vampires and whiny teenagers!. It makes Harry Potter reasonable reading!. Teenage girls are the reason that there is so much **** swimming around book stores!. Listen to bad music, read bad books, watch horrible television!. Stop giving these imbeciles a reason to keep producing this trash!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You are obviously a very bitter, cynical old coot who has no life, only living in the past!. I am not a Twilight fanatic, however I did greatly enjoy the books!. Well, except for the last one!.
Now, I usually wouldn't have said anything, but you went on to insult not only Twilight, but Harry Potter; the genres of rock, rap, hip-hop, pop, emo, christian, and contemporary music, The Inheritance Cycle, etc!!! Not to mention all television!. I am completely sure that back in the 40s, when you were young, there were people criticizing your music, your preferred reading, your television- did they even have color TV back then!?
You just blamed every girl who happens to be an adolescent for what retarded crap there is out there: aka, DISNEY CHANNEL, and all so-called "musicians" and "actors" that some girls are obsessed with!. And excuse us if you don't happen to enjoy our books, but that's why they are in the YA section, and since you clearly aren't young, what are you doing anywhere near that section!?!?!?
What would you consider quality music!? If you said the Beatles, I would agree with you!. If you said Mozart, I would say that- well, I won't put here what I would say!.
And television!? You are aware that they have shows for old people too!. Watch the International Bingo Championships, you'd probably get a thrill out of that!.
The classics are great!. Well!.!.!. some are!. Robinson Crusoe!? Horrible! Pilgrim's Progress!? Horrible!! The Old Man And The Sea!? PURE TORTURE!!! However, Jane Eyre was a fantastic read, and so was the last book Jane Austen wrote, I can't remember the title, but it began with a P!.
Some classics are great, some are duds!. HOWEVER, some modern fiction is also great, but admittedly, many are also duds!.
GET OVER IT!!! If you hate Twilight, don't read it!. If you hate modern music, don't listen to the radio!. If you hate TV, don't watch TV!. How simple is that!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Stephanie Meyer is a symptom, not a disease!. There's been rubbish floating around bookstores since printed material became commonplace!. Look at Clive Cussler, Dan Brown, Dean Koontz, Stephen Coonts, Tom Clancy, Danielle Steele (and the hundreds of 'writers' who have spawned off of her success), R!.L!. Stine, Philippa Gregory, and so many others!. If you picked up 100 novels at random from a Barnes and Noble shelf, from the Fiction and Literature section, maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of what you picked up wouldn't be complete dross, and of that minority, only two or three books would be more recent than 1975!.

The vast majority of published writing won't stand the test of time for five or ten years, much less hundreds!. The only fundamental difference between Twilight and so much of the other stuff that comes out on a daily basis is the number of copies sold!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I probably stepped on quite a few toes with that list in there!. So be it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First things first- I am a fan of Twilight, but I am CERTAINLY NOT one of those people who puts glitter on thier face or who doesn't go out in the sunlight!.

BUT!.!.!.

I do agree that she can not write!. Her ideas are genuinely interesting but I think she executes them in a way that makes them boring and less interesting than what they are!.
She builds you up to expect this great climax and then sends you crashing down!.

When I first read the book I absolutely adored it, but having read it again, I now see where all those Twilight-haters are coming from!. I do not HATE it, but it has taken its' toll on me a little!. If you strip it down then the basic plotline is: Girl meets boy, boy has terrible secret but all is resolved in the end!. It just goes to show what good fiction is defined as these days!.

The movie, as well, is a bit of an anti-climax!. All this hype was created because it's Twilight, but when I saw it I was disappointed!. It is a good film to watch if you forget about all the things that have been left out and forgotten!. (However I love the soundtrack)

Having said all that I do like the book but is most certainly not on my 'best books I've ever read' list!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personal expeience :):)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree!. Her books are crap!. No, wait—if crap could eat crap and poop it out, her books are crap that craps crap!. They are nothing but garbage!. I'm still hoping for the day that Stephenie Meyer gathers all her crap and takes a long walk on a short pier!. A competent 13 year old could trump her writing style any day!. A 35 year old woman of 3 kids still writes like she's 12!. It's so pathetic that it makes me want to fear for humanity!. It's sad that her ego is so big that she thinks she's all hot stuff now!. Somebody slap this madwoman, please!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't say "Stephanie Meyer" and "Literature" in the same sentence please!.!.!.

Twilight isn't literature; it's a novel!. In twenty years it'll be ancient history, whereas the Brontes' romances will still be enduring!.

Noooo, not the thumbs-down from the Twilight Tweens!!! How will I ever sleep tonight!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that you're ranting, and that this has been said many, many times!.

While you're correct, you are only adding to the problem!. If you want the Twilight-Madness to end, you need to take the first step and get over it yourself!.

Be the bigger person!.

also, on a side note!.!. What do you have against Harry Potter!? It's fantastic!Www@QuestionHome@Com

All I can say to you and your fellow friends that are obsessed with hating on Twilight, GET!.OVER!.IT!.

Grow up!.

Hating on the book is so childish and unintelligent, and this type of question (rant) has been posted a gazzilion times!.

Your not original!.

Your not cool!.

Your not funny!.

You ARE immature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes i agree!. she's not quite as bad as Dan Brown though!. young adult literature in general is pretty crappy!. when i was a "young adult" i read authors like jane austen and the brontes!. i'm not trying to be snobby, i just have good taste in literature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As the author happily admits, the Twilight series is for girls age 8 to 12, of course it's crap!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. I think she came up with a great idea for a universe and a unique twist on the vampire (and werewolf) worlds that was so good that it captured a huge audience!. Her gift is in creating characters that people love!. She doesn't follow the rules as far as writing goes, but you can't deny that she has created characters that are more loved than some of the ones created by acknowleged great writers!. And by the way, JK Rowling is a brilliant writer!. Harry Potter was always "reasonable" reading!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no!.i think sh's the best and i love her books >:(Www@QuestionHome@Com
