First you have to make a plan listing the strength/weakness of the character and a list of flaws/advantages for them!.

Second, you have to come up with a background for them!. Were they rich/poor smart/dumb

Third, show items from your plan through their actions!. Like if a guy is a dumb thief and the characters are talking about some master plan the bad guy has!. don't have him give a great insight for physics or something!. Instead have him point out a more simple motive for what the bad guy is doing or have him fall asleep cause he can't keep up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Write a one-page length description of all the main characters in your story!. It can include how they look, their personality traits, their background (family life, etc!.!.)
This description will be the main basis of their role in the book and how they act towards others!. Pay attention to dialogue, how they talk and what kind of things they say!. That tells you a lot about a character!.

Just keep writing the story!. The characters will eventually create themselves, in a way, as the stories go on!. You will be surprised!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you could take a forever out of your schedule and make a planner for every single character in your story!. but, what i would suggest is to make up a tiny, micrsofic problem and have your character respond to it!.
ex!. bob and joe are two knights headed to greet the king at his castle!. As they ride horses, a little girl gets in their way, joe yells at her!. bob notices she is pulling a weight to heavey for her and helps her!.
from little things like that, the reader gets a pretty clear idea of the character!. :P hope this helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

How they treat other characters is huge!. It definitely reveals the kind of person they are!. Actions and reactions toward situations, other characters, etc!. etc!. I think that's what you're asking!.!.!. Hope I helped! lolWww@QuestionHome@Com
