Under exposed photos can usually be improved very much, editing software can coax a lot of detail out of the shadows!.

Over exposed photos can't be rescued!. When there IS no color information available, no program can enhance it for you!.
If you see something that badly over exposed on your little LCD screen, it is time to quickly redo the shot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you shot in jpeg, right!? if so, then no, you've lost detail in the highlights and there's nothing you can do!. if you have a raw version of the shot (which you probably don't) you can try to recover the highlights!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Too much detail is washed out!.

You need to take another picture and not in direct sunlight!. Try to take it in a shady area like a side of a building or during a cloudy day!. Turn off your flash too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
