Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: VAn Gogh produced several sets of paintings of Sunflowers!.One set while in living in Paris, another when he had moved to Arles!. The second set has a story behind them: Gauguin was coming to stay, and Van Gogh wanted to hang six sunflower paintings in his guest room in order to please/impress his friend!. VAn Gogh loved the sun (not sunshine) and saw it as a symbol of warmth and light!. The sunflowers painted in brilliant tones of yellow were for him the earthly representation of the sun!.
