Question: Where will studying Performing Arts (Drama/Acting) get me !?
I am in year 11 and in the last year of high school!. (I live in the UK!.)
I really want to go and study performing arts, in particular acting at college!.
I went to an open day today at the college I am planing to go to today and looked around the drama department etc and it looked great and a lot of fun!
I chatted to a man in that department and he said at the end of the course I can then go onto drama school, the course lasts 2 years I think!.
I was just wondering if I do pass the course and go onto Drama School what possibilities may this open up to me !?
Do you think I have a good chance of getting into the acting business if I do this !?
Thanks, I am just curious as to where this might take me in life as I love acting!.
Thanks again! =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Acting is probably the hardest profession to be successful in but if it is your dream, you should follow it!. I am currently studying Drama at Uni where we study theory as well as jobs based on theatre so there are more jobs available from studying Drama than Acting!. In Drama you can study Arts Journalism, Writing, Directing, Acting, Community Theatre and others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well these things really matter!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have more of a chance but some people just aren't good at acting!. There may be agents but no guarantee!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hi,
It's really great that you're thinking of doing that, i know a bit about it as my sister is just finishing a university course in the performing arts!. It can lead to a few different opportunities; my sister is choosing to follow a teaching route and already has a job lined up as a drama teacher ready for when she finishes university!. Another option is that when my sister was about your age she went to drama school, and i'm not sure if you watch Eastendes, but the character who plays Janine (Charlie Brooks) was at the same drama school as my sister, which shows you can get acting parts through that route!. Another option is to go to a stage school, this proved very helpful to my cousin whom has since had many acting parts both on television, (namely casualty if you ever see that) and also some west end roles!. It depends what sort of acting you want to go in to really!. Sorry if this seems very anecdotal, but i hope it helps!. =)Www@QuestionHome@Com
