Oh wow, as others have already said. Please do not sing the Oscar Meyer song. At the very least, Happy Birthday or Twinkle Twinkle LIttle Star because everyone knows the words and they are melodic, but it does show your inexperience. You should also never sing acapella unless it's as a last resort. If an accompanist is provided then bring sheet music. If not, bring background music on a cd.

If the auditions are tomorrow, you should have been preparing for this for several weeks. Go with Happy Birtyhday or Twinkle for now. For future auditions, find yourself a professional voice teacher and start working on the basics of musicality and start working on 2 basic songs. One ballad and one upbeat.

One other answerer suggest you go to StageAgent.com which is a great suggestion. Another site to use is MusicalTheatreAudition.com

For future auditions, you should start doing your homework as soon as you find out about the audition. Find out all your can about the show. Read synopsis, watch the film version, read the script if you can (the film versions are often different than the stage version). Listen to the score several times and make sure you know which characters sing what and what the vocal range is of each character. You should also know your own vocal range and your voice teacher will help you with that. Figure out which characters you breakdown for by age, look, type, etc. Then you'll know better how to choose your audition material. You should gear it towards the character you hope to play. People have differing opinions on this, but it's my personal opinion that you should not sing a song from the show for your audition unless specifically asked to do so, I believe that if you do not sing the song how the director envisions it that you may have just shot your chances whreas if you do well with a different song that shows similar characteristics to the character you want, they will be able to possibly see you in that role without you having ruined a vision they may have had. For instance, if you want to audition for Kim McAfee, I would consider singing a song that a similar character in another show sings:

Much More (Louisa) - The Fantastics
Sixteen Going on Seventeen (Liesl) - The Sound of Music

You see where I'm going with this? These are all young girls growing into young women.

Pop songs have no place in a musical theatre audition unless they are specifically asked for because of the style of the show. I would stay away from them altogether and when a show calls for something like that, go with a show that's in that style.

Best of luck tomorrow,
Marianne

Please tell me you are kidding DO NOT WASTE PEOPLE'S TIME WITH THE OSCAR MEYER SONG!!! Show a little respect for the craft.

Sing something from a broadway show, look at shows from the era, like Flower Drum Song (i enjoy being a girl) if you want to play Kim, or How to Succeed in Business (I believe in you) if you want Rosie, or at least a disney princess song will work, (only because you know absolutely no show tunes).

When I audition very small children I have them sing "Happy Birthday" because everyone knows it, it's short and it shows your range.

You're trying out for a musical. So sing something from either Bye Bye Birdie or another Broadway show. For example:

On My Own (good for either a soprano or an alto, but altos could probably pull it off more easily) from Les Mis

I Dreamed a Dream from Les Mis (altos/tenors only)

Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera (sopranos)

Somewhere/Someday from West Side Story (soprano)

Good luck!

It really depends on your voice. sing a song from the show like English teacher (sung by rosie)or How lovely to be a woman sung by Kim Macafee (the best choice because it really shows the best qualities in a voice) It really depends on which character u want.

I don't normally recommend current, popular shows for auditions since they tend to be overdone, but check out "I Can Hear the Bells" from Hairspray. It's a similiar style to Bye Bye Birdie, it's a musical theatre song and it's not particularly difficult or range-y.
Do not sing a pop song by Mariah, Whitnet or anyone else. You're auditioning for a musical, sing a song from a musical.

**Also, sorry to all the Les Mis fans, but please don't sing On My Own. I know everyone loves that song but it is so well-known and overdone, you're just going to get a grimace from the director if you say you're going to sing it. Plus, Bye Bye Birdie requires more of a pop style of singing wheras Les Mis is more legit, so it's not really appropriate anyway. Same with Phantom of the Opera. Totally different style of singing.

NEVER EVER sing oscar mayer song!! okie, i have PLENTY experience, and you shouldn't sing something that we suggest just because you think it is interesting. choose something that is in you range. For me, "Broken Wing" by Martina Mcbride is aaaamazing sounding, and completely in my range, and i am comfertable with it. Basically find a song that is in your range- NOT PLEASE NOT oscar mayer, and just sing something that you are comfterable with...
hope this helps =/ and good luck!

first, whatever you do, do NOT sing the oscar mayer song. Sing something like......

I can hear the bells or good morning baltimore from hairspray
somewhere thats green from little shop of horrors
Tomorrow or maybe from annie
all that jazz ,roxie,or when youre good to mama from chicago
the girl i mean to be from the secret garden

those are only a few options. if none of these work for you do some looking on youtube or something for a good song. But i can tell you to sing something from a musical.

DO NOT sing the oscar meyer weiner song. the director will be much more impressed if you sing a song from a musical. If you're just kind of starting out, sing My Favorite Things from Sound of Music. Good luck!
