it doesnt rhyme, it is meant to be read slow, with dramatic pauses!. i know that i switch back and forth from third person to first person, but that is the point, that it's emphasized that its about me !.!. secretly tho!.!.
The Red Leaf
Where did the green grass go!? I don't care if it's really green, maybe yellow is okay!. All I see is colors of red!. Red!. Why can't I see the green grass!? Why is it hiding from me!? Maybe the red just wants to be noticed now!. People could only see the green before!. I think finally they noticed the red!. The tree's cry for help!.
Every year the tree grows leaves!. New!. Bright!. I am the tree!. Whose leaves bring joy!. Hope!. Love!. The leaves!. They grow bigger, over time!. At first, they are green just like the grass!. For some reason the green draws attention!. People are attracted to it!. They didn't notice the ugly brown branches!. They don't see the holes; they didn't even recognize the birds nest!. They only wish to see the green leaves!.
Time passes, where did some of the leaves go!? Perhaps the tree didn't want them anymore, so it let them go!. Most were stolen!. By people!. Why would people do that!? When a leaf is just pulled out from under you, it gets you angry!. But the tree cannot fight back!. The tree's anger cannot be expressed!. The tree can't do anything!. Not even grow a new hope!.
There is one more monster though!. The wind!. The one thing that introduced the sense of smell has turned on us!. The one thing that used to bring good and bad smells!. It could have been the deep fried chicken from Soltz's or the scent of perfume from the most beautiful girl walking by!. Now the wind is cruel!. The tree hates the wind from knocking off all its leaves!. But, the tree doesn't dare disrespect the wind!. Fear of what the wind might do with all of its authority!.
For there is a red leaf!. Just one!. Hanging on the tree's branch!. A lonely leaf!. The last leaf!. Every time the cruel wind blows, it tries to steal that leaf!. If that red leaf were to fall off, the tree would be left vulnerable!. Naked!. It would leave the tree with a huge decision, to fight the winter through!. Or give up!. Giving up actually sounds like the better option!. The tree would be free!. No more worries about growing hopes!. No more disappointments!. But if the tree chooses to hold on, it must go through the same routine year after year!.
This red leaf is the only one!. Actually, it was the very first one, and yet the monstrous wind blows so hard!. The tree doesn't quite understand itself!. I hold onto the red leaf with all my might!. But for some reason, the tree wishes the red leaf will fall off!. It wants the wind to rip off the red leaf and then my decision would be easier!. But strangely the tree wants to keep holding on to the red leaf!.
The tree looks down between its' branches!. It sees all of its' red leaves on the ground!. Tom Tucker is raking all of the red leaves up!. Now you can see the green grass again, and nobody can even see the red leaves!. No one remembers the red leaves!. No one cares for the red leaves!.
You could have been the red leaf!. Never knew!. Never will!.
