I wouldn't recommend getting new pick-ups!. It's just too much work!. I suggest the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone Pedal!. It's about $150 and it is worth every penny!. I play with a Schecter C-1 + guitar which is naturally good for metal, but with this pedal I was able to get a decent metal tone with this pedal on a Fender Squire Tele! What I do on my with my stuff when I am playing Bay-Area Thrash Metal like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and even some metal core is I set the pedal to 3 o'clock Treble/Bass, Mids tuned completely out and turn the distortion up to 3 o'clock!. On my amp I put it on clean and I bring the treble up to 4 o'clock, mid at 11 o'clock and bass at 10 o'clock!. This set-up sounds great on my Line 6 Spider 2 Amp!. These settings should work on your amp too since I have the amp on clean!. I hope this helped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
