Question: How do you read guitar tabs!?
I just got an acoustic guitar and I'm attempting to teach myself to play it!. I've looked up some guitar music, and I'm not sure if I'm reading it correctly!. I'm getting super frustrated!. Some beginner tabs for me to practice would be great too!. Thanks!. =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

the tabs provide you with 6 lines lookin like this

E-------------------------------------
B-------------------------------------
G-------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------
Each line represents a different string

You will find numbers on each different string, each number representing which fret you must play during the certain part in your music!. It may look like this

E-------------------------------------
B-----------------1----------3--------
G-----0-------------------------------
D-------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------

With '0' representing open string, pluck the g-sring, then place your pointer finger onto the first fret of the b-string, pluck, followed by placing your ring finger on the third fret, and pluck!. (don't use your middle finger to hold the 3rd fret, It will take to long to tell you why, but remember this, "every finger owns a fret")

you may occasionally indentify wierd symbols like : / \ h p

" / " means that you have to slide your fingers up the frets, instead of simply removing a finger and placing another one

" \ " is the same as / except you slide down

" h " mean to "hammer on" when doing a "hammer on" you will be required to play a note, and when moving on to the next note, instead of removing a finger and placing another finger, you keep your current finger in position, and place another finger onto the string that is currently vibrating!. it will look something like this

E-------------------------------------
B--------------------1h3--------------
G-------0-----------------------------
D-------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------

" p " means to "pull off" it is similar to hammer on except that instead on placing a finger onto a vibrating string, you take off a finger!.

Reading online tablature is as simple as that!

Another thing, since you're a begginner, I suggest learning some chords first!. If you want, I can e-mail you some chords, as well as some of my own tablatureWww@QuestionHome@Com
