Question: Is it possible to teach yourself to play the clarinet!?
If so what is the best method to teach yourself!?

Btw-I've been playing the flute now for almost 15 years!. I'm not a pro musician, nor do I give lessons!. It's just a hobby I enjoy!. I'm interested in learning a 2nd instrument but I don't have money for lessons!. What's the best way to teach yourself to play the clarinet!? ThanksWww@QuestionHome@Com

The embouchure is going to be the trickiest thing for you to master without a teacher!. It's hard to explain without demonstrating, but this webpage: http://www!.tcnj!.edu/~mckinney/clarinet_e!.!.!. has some very useful points which should help you!. Other than that, get a fingering chart and just try it - once you've mastered the embouchure you'll probably find that you progress pretty quickly! The only thing that might trip you up is that the clarinet doesn't jump an octave, it jumps a twelfth (cylindrical bore as opposed to a conical bore) and so the fingering for a G in the lower register is a D in the upper register, not a G!.!.!.but you'll get used to that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Get yourself a fingering chart for clarinet, and basically just learn some classic free songs!. Just with any instrument you get better by practicing and playing!. So go get a fingering chart, and some basic sheet music and just learn how to play!. There are also beginner clarinet books at almost any music shop!. These teach you different warm ups, and different embouchure forms!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
