Question: Adult Music Learning!?
I learned piano at the age of 7, taking two years of classes to be exact, getting up to the intermediate level!. I quit playing until the age of 17!. I am now 21, and I have been learning techniques from people, as well as some classical music pieces by reading them!. I am sort of frustrated with my efforts so far, though I have managed to learn Fur Elise in about a week with four days straight of practice!. I just need to know what I should expect to learn at this age since I've heard that most people who don't master the instrument at a young age are destined to crumminess!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The age of 21 is not an age at which you are destined to "crumminess!." Keep in mind that the piano takes many years to master, but you are stil young enough to be able to master it with some work!. The biggest problem adult students have is taking the time to learn the proper skills!. Pay attention to details and work the songs slow until you have everything down, and then gradually speed them up!. Sloppy practice leads to sloppy playing!. Good practice lead to good playing!. 3 Rules of Good Practice; 1) play it SLOW so that you can 2) play it RIGHT and then 3) play it OVER AND OVER!. If you continue to be frustrated, get a coach (private teacher)!. A teacher can guide you into the right studies to help build your skills and help you pace your practice sessions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
