Hi Kie

You need to build the finger muscles with the proper exercise!. The more you build the pinky finger especially, the better you will get at tapping!.
also, consider using extra light gauge string !.009 and most guitar players play with these and even !.008 supler slinky Ernie Balls!.

Here is a good exercise to do on a daily basis if you need to strengthen all the finger!. You do this exercise but keeping the fingers on the fret even after sounding the note!.

1-2-1-2-3-2-3-4 and then backward 4-3-4-3-2-3-2-1

AND

1-2-1-3-1-4-1-3-1-2 Here, you hold the first note and hammer with the other fingers

Then, with the same exercise, you sound the first note ONLY and do hammner-on pull-offs for the rest

After a week ofthis, try your tapping now :)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yeah, your muscles are not used to performing that type of movement with the strength you need for repetitive hammer-ons or pull offs!.
It takes time and practice just like any other aspect of guitar!. Remember(I hope) how much it hurt to play a long song with repetitive barre chords!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

because you are pressing too hard!.!.!. try moving your finger right up against the fret, but not pushing so hard, you are tiring your hand!.!.!.
I have weak hands for a lor of reasons and they tire easily when playing guitar but I can get a good hour out of them no problem!.

And you do have muscle in your fingers, people are weird!.!.!. this is called dexterity!.!.!. it will increase the more you play!.!.!. same as anything else!.!.!. it is also muscle memory or something like that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just as with any other new activity, it'll take a little bit for your body to get used to the new movement!.
Once you build up callouses and increase finger dexterity, you should be good to go!.!. Just keep practicing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My fingers always got really tired really quickly when tapping and doing pull offs at first!. Basically yeah, all you need to do is practice it a lot and let your fingers get used to it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if it is hurting your hand, your either too weak, not doing it right, or the action on your guitar is wayyyy too highWww@QuestionHome@Com
