Question: What would you choice of guitar be for Blues!?
I'm looking into active pick-ups!. Right now I have a very nice jackson that plays like the bomb, but the tone is not the best for blues (and it's passive)!.!.

I'm willing to save up a lot for a guitar, I've been drooling on PRS semi-hollows and scratching my head at langcaster guitars!. (langcasters sound nice but the only people I see playing them, play stupid annoying music!.

What do you prefer!? Is there any guitar out there that just plays well and is very versatile in tone!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Fender Stratocaster is the most versatile guitar!. Active pickups are not even necessary for blues!.
See Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn

Another guitar good for blues is The Gibson ES 335!. A la B!.B!. King!.

Epiphone makes a version of the 335, that would be more affordable than the Gibson model!.

Now I've never heard of the langcaster guitars, but I just checked the website for them!. They look like they would be REALLY expensive!.
But they are endorsed by Jan Akkerman, a guitarist I am intimately aware of!. I've been listening to him since the 70's and he is a true master of the instrument!.
the langcaster Cobra looks really nice! I'll bet they are like 3-4000 dollars at least!

most any hollow body electric would have the qualities for a good blues guitar, I would think!. PRS makes fine guitars, I think probably the larger the body is the better the "hollow " tone would be!.

That's why strats are the most common choice for a blues rock guitarist, because the neck pickup setting on a strat, really imitates the hollow body tone of an Es 335!.
In fact Ritchie Blackmore in the early days of Deep Purple played a Gibson ES 335 and not a strat!

I love my Strats!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I just got a PRS Modern Eagle II, but any PRS you get whether a CU22 CU24, or hollowbody, they are THE MOST versatile guitars on the market!. In combination with a nice bogner or mesa, you can play literally anything you want and not have to give up anything for the tone!. Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

STRATOCASTERWww@QuestionHome@Com

Fender Stratocaster is pretty much the blues guitar, get a good tube amp and set in on crunch and the perfect blues tone famous blues artists like SRV and Gary Moore all use the strat!. I know the strat is a very common guitar but there is a good reason!. It is a very versatile guitar!. IMO the only thing it can play is metal but then again who the hell would want to play metal on a strat!. If you are going to get a strat make sure its an american version not mexican!. Prs guitars are beautiful!. They are the closest thing to a a strat and an ibanez all in one!. The PRS has an awesome tone and is also very versatile and you can create a little more metallic sound on it than the strat!. But a PRS can be a great blues guitar to get that rich santana sound!. But i would still go with the strat ist just a classic guitar that will automatically give you that perfect blues sound every time with theright amp!. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A GOOD AMP!. A good tube amp is key to gettign that blues sound!. So grab a strat put on some nice fender hot noiseless 3 pickups and your good to go!. Yeah they arent active pickups but actives arent better unless you just want a little louder sound!. but if you buy noislesss pikcups you will get much less hum like an active pickup!. And plus you need betteries for active pikcups and they give you way less tonal possibilities which you will need when playign blues!. So i would just focus on teh guitar part right now!. So go to guitar center and pick up a strat and try it out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
