this is going to sound dumb but it works!. if your costume has pockets it's even better - keep some paper towels folded in your pockets and hold on to them hard before you go out on stage!. if you don't have pockets, just hold them and drop them before you walk out!. it keeps you steady! also, clenching your muscles while holding the glass keeps you from shaking!. good luck and break a leg!Www@QuestionHome@Com

breathing helps!. also forgeting about worrying about people seeing your hands helps!. don't notice it!. because it's a reaction that your body does in response to your heartrate, you can't really control it at first!. it requires a bit of practice!. my hands still shake for performances and i've been doing it for over 10 years!. i just got to the point where i stopped worrying about it!. you can use a few tricks: 1) once you pick up the glass, keep the glass moving!. incorporate this into your gestures!. if you keep your hand moving, the glass is moving, and no one will notice that it's shaking!. 2) once you get it into your hands, get your other hand on the bottom of the glass!. this is another incorporation into your movement!. you could even combo #1 & #2!. 3) is it possible to incorporate "the shakes" into your character!? i did a monologue once that was high stakes emotionally so i had terrible shakes!. i simply made it apart of my character!. that my character was so emotionally distraught, that she was physically shaken up as well!. hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i used to get this all the time when I was on stage but with a little experience and time it just went away!.
Now I just sweat like crazy instead!.
I dont feel nervous so I think my body just does this insted!.

The wiered thing is though, if Im being myself 9ie not a character) my hands shake like crazy and the sweat runs off me!.

Set aside 10-20 minutes before a performance, and do some relaxation and breathing exercises!. This should relieve a lot of the nerves and tension, and thus the shaking!. Tension is the worst enemy of the actor!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just try to relax before you start, concentrate on breathing calmly and the rest normally falls into place!.Remember people will want you to do well that's why they go to see a play, they are on your side!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The better to deal with this is to divert your attention and trust me you can never be shaky!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

be spontaneous, jump and shout and people like its normal, then going on stage will be easy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Clench them before you pick up the cup it should steady them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
