Well, obviously you're looking at an acoustic guitar then!. It's great to start with because you can play a whole variety of music, and you're more likely to pick it up and play it often because you don't need to plug in anything to play!.

What you want is a good acousitc guitar for a beginner, and you shouldn't be buying it without trying it first!. So here's how to get a proper guitar for yourself to start playing with:

Well first of all, it's important to have a budget, or the saleperson at the shop will try to get you something expensive that you don't even need!.

Once your budget has been decided, look at all the guitars in your price range!. Now here comes the difficult part: You're going to have to try them!. I know you probably can't play yet, but it's still important you hear and test them!. Do NOT get the first instrument you see that you can afford, or the nicest looking one, too many people make that mistake!.

First, have someone play it for you, and see if you like the sound it produces!. also, strum the strings yourself, and see if you like it!. Pluck individual notes and take notice of how long the note holds!. It's generally a rule that better guitars have better sustain, meaning that the note will ring longer!. Next, hold down the strings!. Notice how hard you have to push to get them down!. A better guitar shouldn't hurt you too much!. If it feels like it'll bust your fingers if you hold on for longer than a few seconds, it's probably not the ideal choice!.

Next, wrap your hand around the neck, with your thumb under, and your other four fingers on strings within reach!. Does it feel too thick!? Too thin!? Only you can decide, because it's personal preference!. also, check the tuning pegs, turn them and the should offer some resistance, but not too much!. Finally, check for overall construction, make sure it's all in good shape!.

Do this, and decide on what is best!. Try not to look at the brand names, because honestly, at entry level they're usually all made in China and of similar materials, and sometimes even in the same factory!. So, get the one that sounds and feels best regardless of brand!.

However, just to give you an idea of what is worth looking out for, the following brands are popular amongst beginners and are generally good value!. Don't be afraid to try something else though, remember, it's whatever feels and sounds best!.

- Takamine
- Yamaha
- Ibanez
- Seagull
There are others of course, just as there are brands to avoid, so I'd suggest testing them out!. Oh, and in my opinion, cheap Fender guitars suck!. So avoid them like the plague!.

I strongly recommend that you buy your guitar at a music shop, and not online or off late night television shows, because you have no idea what you're paying for or if the guitar suits you!.

Good luck, hope this helped and have fun! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The best suggestion I can offer is to go to your local book
store and get this excellent little book:
How To Play Guitar by Roger Evans
(Everything You Need To Know To Play The Guitar-) cost $10!.95

After going thru the first 15 pages you will know what
kind of guitar will be the best to get for your particular
taste in music and style !.

Based on my experience with both instruments, I would suggest that you start with an acoustic guitar - either Nylon strings or steel strings, This book will explain each type (as well as the electric type)!.

Guitar teachers tend to favor the nylon-string guitar for beginner students (nylon-strings are much easier of the fingers than steel strings) but the nylon strings guitar have a wider neck than steel strings guitars!.

Nylon strings(also known as classical guitars) are preferred by
players that like to play with bare fingers (no picks) and the
melody part of the song!.
Steel-string guitars are most often played with a "pick"
and used primarily by chord" players for playing "back-up"!.

Either type can play Any Kind Of Music!.

I hope this help and Enjoy your new adventure with the guitar!.
It is just a matter of personal preference!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You probably don't need a $2,000 guitar while learning to play so go with a lower Martin or a Takamine!. Did you want a classical or flamenco guitar!? The frets are usually further apart and the strings are nylon!. It's a bit different from what most know as an acoustic!. My first guitar was a Takamine and it's great to start on!. Of course I'm freaking awesome now and have a Gibson Hank Williams Sig!. haha!. jk I suck!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally, I'd recommend staring with an electric guitar because it' easy to play!.
If I had to buy an acoustic though, I'd buy an Alvarez or Taylor!. It's a good idea to check worldmusicsupply!.com!. They have support, so they can help you pick one!. You can also go to your local music store!.
That Esteban guitar spiel looks to good to be true!. I'd recommend not buying it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
