I'm just going to say that I highly doubt that the first person responding to this post does not have any of those amps, i don't know why its just a feeling!.

However he is right, Krank and Mesa are probably two of the most popular metal amp brands, but theyre also expensive as hell!.

The peavey valveking is a great amp for the money, however i'm not sure its the tone youre looking for!. the tone is much bassier and darker than a metallica type sound!.

When I was in a metal band, i always used a bogner amp in the studio and the rhythm guy always used a krank amp (we were kinda influenced by Avenged Sevenfold here, but hey those amps sound great,) BUT, when i was on tour i didn't want to be taking a 2700 dollar amp head aroudn with me so I invested a fortune into a fender roc pro!. By a fortune, i mean i spent 100 dollars!. The fender roc pro is an amazing amp for any type of metal that they don't make anymore!. It's a hybrid amp, but you'd be surprised at how good it sounds!. I won't say its as good as a bogner or a krank because its not, but it still sounds great with a tone all its own!. You can find them for the 100-200 dollar range on ebay, they're 100 watts!. You can email me with any questions!.

I also reccomend the B-52 AT amp, though its a teeny bit more expsensive than the valveking!. I've taken one apart before, and it uses the exact same wiring as a mesa/boogie rectifier, just with what seems to be cheaper materials!. It's also quite a bit sturdier than a mesa, which ive constantly seen break down in the middle of a set!. I got one of these amps for my girlfriend in high school and she told me she still uses it in some band shes in!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Peavey makes good stuff generally, i have not experience with the valveking
Just about any amp above worthless can be used for anything, with the right work or effects
Personally for Metal i use Krank, Mesa Boogie, or Randall's
But they are expensive!.
A good idea is an amp with a GREAT clean, and add distortion with pedals
Just try it yourself and see how you like itWww@QuestionHome@Com

i think peavey might be good,
but try a line 6!.!.!. they seem to be pretty promising!.

best thing to do will to be go to your local music shop, ask the employees, and test some out for yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
