Anyone who plays an alto or tenor saxophone and flute?

Question: Anyone who plays an alto or tenor saxophone and flute!?

I used to play the flute in 3rd and 4th grade which was awhile ago from now!.!.!.!. Is the saxophone anything like the flute!? Which is easier to play!? Anymore details comparing the two!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, the flute is almost nothing like playing the saxophone!. The embouchure, vibrato, and tonguing are all different!. The only advantages from playing the flute you'll have are pretty much only lung capacity and the ability to read music!.
There is no instrument that is "easier" to play!. While a saxophone may be easier for most to produce a sound, it all depends on the individual!. One may learn one instrument faster than the other and vise versa!. Seeing as "easy" is probably used in a relative sense, it really depends on your commitment and talent whether the instrument will be easy or not!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well lets see, I've played saxophone for a few years and I just recently tried to play the flute and could not get a sound out of it easily, then again I've only tried for less than an hour so I'm sure I'll get better!.

First of all the saxophone uses a reed to produce sound and a flute uses just air!. They're not really similar except for using air to play them but then again so doe the trombone the trumpet, the clarinet, etc!. etc!. etc!.

It's not gonna be easy and it's still gonna take practice and the fingerings are totally different, I'm pretty sure!. The only advantage you may have is the ability to read music right!? That;s gonna help!. It's funny you'r wanting to play the sax from flute, and I' learning the flute after playing the sax!. :)

When I tried out for the flute years ago, I couldn't get out a sound!.It has something to do with the way I blow!. But when I tried out for the saxophone I got a note out!. So I think the saxophone is easier!. I think it could be because of the reed, which has to vibrate for the saxophone to make a sound!. So all you have to do for the saxophone is to blow hard!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
