Write about what was good and not good, what the actors did well and how they can improve and use a lot of descriptive words which will then add to your word count

like instead of "the acting was good" use "the acting was absolutely outstanding and extremly well rehursed"

Then it goes from 4 words to 9 words

Or build an essay out of the play, something intriguing!. Talk about the play and the performance, of course, but launch into a kind of essay about its main point or how it made you feel!. Something like,

There are no accidents; everything, no matter how twisted and random they seem, comes as a result of some predetermined formula!. This bleak view of humanity is the main point of Alfredo Embitterman's Things Bite Really Hard, a play in three minutes!. (I'm just making this up, and no, I don't believe that!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

As a drama teacher, avoid phrases like the acting was good or outstanding or sucked!. This is an empty phrase and says nothing!. However, if you say that the acting was honest, that you felt that the actors were involved in the scene and not aware of the audience, or not very self-conscious as opposed to acting that appears stilted, overly-rehearsed, or constantly looking at the audience for approval!. The movement should appear motivated; people move for a reason!. They move towards people they like or away from people they don't like!. And of course, there's volume!. These are the three notes I gave over and over and over in my Drama I class, and by the time my students got to Drama II, I should not have to give these notes again!. Do not comment on the lines themselves as the actors are stuck with whatever they've decided to tackle and should not tamper with the lines!. Whether you agree or like the script is irrelevant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
