Question: What's a good audition song!?
For an audition I'm trying to get into ensemble!. I've been told the directors are looking for songs sung that are not so "broadway" for the freshman because freshman girls never get parts!. So!.!.!. I'm looking for a non-Broadway-ish theater audition song for a mezzo soprano that will be a freshman girl!. My head voice starts at C so it's a pretty weak note of mine!. Thank you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

As silly as you may think it sounds, Disney princess songs are good audition pieces!. They are not Broadway originally (except for the fact that Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast are now both on Broadway) and they have some really good range!. Try Colors of the Wind - Pocahontus, Just Around the Riverbend - Pocahontus, Part of Your World - Little Mermaid, A Whole New World - Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast - Beauty and the Beast!. Those are just some suggestions, but you could totally go look up some more as well!. Another thing you could try is High School Musical which is not on Broadway and has some really good songs for high school students!. Here are some artists I like that are non broadway:
Sugarland (Lower to middle range, good for a mezzo sop!.)
Carrie Underwood (good range)
Delta Goodrem (good range)
Celine Dion ( LOTS of range) My Heart Will Go On - this would be a good one to sing!.
Enya (good range)
Sarah Mclaughlin (lower to middle range)

Try some of those!. Hope I helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com
