Mind, I don't care much for it
but if i had a good sounding saxophone it would probably give me an incentive to take it up
so any ideas how to give it a better sound

If you play a number 1 reed, go up a step!. Higher, and go see a music shop for your best bet!. You could also try pushing in the mouthpiece further in, as that can also affect C and D heaps!.
