Question: Whatever Happend to Good 'ol Rock N' Roll!?
Today there's hardly anything good out there!. I'm in high school and I listen to Rock N' Roll from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s for the most part, witht he exception of Buckcherry, Airbourne, Wilco, Nickelback, Saving Abel, Backdoor Slam, Alter Bridge, and Shinedown!. Why isn't it as popular as it used to be!. Things have gotten waay out of hand!. Even the bands that i listed that are from the 2000 era done't get a whole lot of airplay (with the exception of Nickelback)!. I think Tom Petty was right when he released "The Last DJ" in 2001, he saw what was coming!. Now we all must suffer!. Who agrees!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Died!.!.!.
Nowadays music is all about the vocalist, with the exception of a few good bands!.
Not to say that some vocals-centered bands aren't good, like Forever the Sickest Kids!.!.!.
But there is definitely much less emphasis on the instrumentals now!.
Guitars are just power chords and basic riffs, and bass parts are just the rhythm guitar overdubbed!.

A lot of modern music also sounds extremely similar!.!.!.
There is no uniqueness in individual songs anymore!.
Vocal parts are a lot easier to sing, for example Immigrant Song is 10x tougher to sing than Basket Case by Green Day!.
Basically talent levels have dropped, and labeling levels have increased :/Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, I think today's popular music is crap too!. Rap is crap, and today's pop stars are over packaged and under talented who seem to be destined to check into the Betty Ford clinic!.

Tom Petty is incorrect, who has admitted to not being a "high tech dude!." The good news is that (1)you don't have to listen to music that you dislike and (2) the internet has choices to offer!. Listen to the music you want to online such as launchcast or live 365Www@QuestionHome@Com

Tha rallying cry changed from, "I want to be free!"!. to "Gimmee! I want it now!"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah it started going downhill in the mid 80's!.
Really the most of the people that download music and buy the band on MTV are not really music fans!. They just are force fed the music - they like to have background music at a party - most of it doesn't make you think and you don't have to make an effort to really listen to it!.
For some people - it is all they know!. They do not know any better!.

You can't blame the business men controlling the music on the radio and TV!. IF kids and soccer moms will buy it - and they enjoy it - then why not make it and aim the music at the common denominator!.!.!.!.money!

also, people do not go out to live music clubs as much anymore + smoking bans!.
