Question: Buying a Guitar HELP!!!?
I want to buy myself a guitar for christmas this year and i was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any specific brands!.
I have no limit on my budget because mum says she'd rather me get a good but expensive guitar than a cheap but bad quality guitar!.
I am not new to music as i have been playing piano for over 9 years and am up to 7th in exams!. I have been playing the flute for almost 2 years and i just wanted to start learning guitar!. I am pretty serious with this as i want to go pretty far and advanced with the guitar!.
Do you think i should start off with acoustic or electric or get an acoustic/electric guitar!? Do you know of any good brands that i should get or even a specific guitar!?

It's always best to start with an acoustic to learn fundamental technique!. It's like if you are learning to drive Formula 1 racecars!. You'd start by driving a normal car, master the fundamentals, then move on to something faster, more nuanced, and more powerful!. By starting with acoustic, you'll build your hand and wrist strength immensely!. The electric guitar is a finely tuned machine - contrary to popular thought, the best, fastest (and even loudest) electric guitarists play with much less effort than an acoustic!. So start right, and get an acoustic!. Learn all chords first, then barre chords, both E and A shapes (but understand the theory!)!.
In terms of which acoustic to buy, if you have the money, in my opinion Martin's are the best way to go!. The model I have has a thin body, but is very loud!. It has low action (meaning it's easy to play)!.
Your mum's point of buying an excellent guitar is right on the money for a few reasons!. If it's excellent, you'll want to play it more!. Second, anything you create will be professional if it's a good guitar, so you are really enabling yourself to be successful!. Best of luck! My model Martin:

What would u like more, playing accoustic, classic, or electric guitar!? it doesnt really matter with which one u start, i've been playing guitar for 6 years, my first guitar was an electric guitar, i bought it and the next day started taking classes!. played that for a few years then bought an accoustic and been playing both since then!. Just go for whatever u feel like playing!
Electric guitars sound different depending on what style you want to play, u have jazzy sounding guitars, blues, rock, metal, warm sounding guitars, lots of different sounds!. since your budget is open, I'd recommend a Fender Stratocaster, lots of great guitar players use it, it's a GREAT sounding guitar, lots of people prefer it over any other brand!. One of my favourites is a Gibson guitar, it sounds like the 70s rock era guitars!. A jackson guitar is great if you love heavy metal sounds!. So it's really up to u in the end, all these are top brands, but sound different!
As for accoustic and classic guitars i cant really recommend a good brand as i dont have enough info :S my accoustic is a Yamaha, it's not the best, but it's not bad either, an average/above average acoustic i'd say, good enough for me :)
