Ok, Most of the other answers were partially correct some were just wrong and a couple were rude!.

When you change strings on a guitar, there is always a "breaking in" period!. Once you change them and tune up, they will sound kinda "twangy" and buzzy!. also the others are correct that you will need to tune them frequently for a few days until they stretch out and tighten up on your tuning pegs!.
One thing you can do to help them along is after tuning, Grab a string near the sound hole(I'm assuming Acoustic steel string guitar!?) and give the string an upwards tug to stretch it out!. You'll find that if your string is still loose the tuning of the string will drop lower and you'll have to retune it up!. Do this on all your strings until they stop dropping tune!. It should only take a few times (maybe up to 5 or 6) and then your strings will be set on the pegs and somewhat stretched out!.

The wound strings will need the most attention and are probably what sounds so cruddy now!. It will take a few days to a week of playing to lose the twangy sound!.

The only other thing that may have happened is that you might have put electric guitar strings on by accident!? Unlikely, but possible if you are new to changing strings and bought the wrong ones!.
Check the color of your wound strings!. Usually acoustic strings are Brass wound and will be goldish-brown in color!. If you have Silver colored strings!. then those are nickel wound and meant for electric guitar only!.

But the same is true for all types of guitars!. New strings alway take a while to stretch out and get their best sound!.
I used to make sure I changed strings no later than a week before a show, so I'd lose that problem before a gig!.

Good Luck, I'm sure it will sound better soon!.

Make sure that the right strings got into the right places!. also guitar strings take quite a while to stop fluctuating sound because they shrink and stretch when you first put them on!. They shrink when you put them on and stretch when you play them!. Often re-tuning will help them sound better

Did you tune the new strings!?

I faced a problem the first time I replaced my strings!. They would fall out of tune 3 minutes after I re-tuned them! If this is what is happening to your guitar, you need to tighten the strings from the bridge!. If you don't know how to do this, take your guitar into a music store such as Guitar Center and they will do it for free!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

ask in a music shop, you may have bought the wrong kind of strings!. bring in your guitar, and they'll tell you straight away
check that they're the same material and the same thickness!. also, if they're not replaced correctly, they won't tune right!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's totally normal!. Anytime you change the strings, the new strings will keep coming out of tune until you've broken them in!. You just have to tune your guitar more frequently!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

A!. They aren't tuned properly!.
B!. They aren't compatible with your guitar and you should buy a different make!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

check intonation, and neck!. Easiest thing to do is just go to guitar store and drop the $50 and have it set and done rightWww@QuestionHome@Com
