They are excellent drums!.

That being said, the main reason why they are excellent is because of Tama's bearing edge!. The shells itself are basswood, which is a cheap alternative to Maple!. Don't get me wrong, it's a good drum set, with a moderate quality wood that they've done everything they can do to it to make it sound great!. Maple drums are the gold standard for rock/hardcore/alternative!. Birch drums are great too, but they're a little brighter and more "musical"

I don't know what your budget is, but look into a PDP platinum, Mapex Pro M Maple, Gretsch Renown Maple or a Tama Starclassic Maple!. any drums made of Bubinga are also great, but pricey!.

Although the Tama superstar is good, the Ludwig Accent Zep set is less expensive, uses the same shell, and sound better!. Plus you get a 24" bass drum with it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

its very good kit there, I know some bands that use them, I do know that Tama Drums are known for metal bands and hard rock though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
