OK im in the 7th grade band at my school and i will be marching next year it is reall fun and all my friends play differnet instruments so ill explain them for you
Trumpet-barotone-french horn-even though it only has 3 keys you need to be able to get your lip to do a inrating sort of thing and you will have to be able to play high and low with the same fingerings theres more than one kind of high and same for low

clarinet-clarient would be real easy but you would have to make sure to put just enough of the mouth peice in your mouth and not bite down or it will sweek and it also has a reed that you wouild need to get used to!.

trombone-trombone is just like the trumpet but uses its slide possisions insted of keys you will also need to be able to buzz high and low for the same slide possisions

percussion- percussion may seem real easy but you will need to learn how to play a good flam and etc!. and for the bells you will need to remember which plate is which and snare, base will be very slow one second and then very very fast the next!.

flute-piccolo-i play the fute and it is really really fun but then again it was hard at first!.you will have to find the correct place to put your mouth on the embrochure hole and it is harder to maintain your breath at first and you have to make sure to press the correct keys and hold them down and theres like a,b,and e flats, sharps, and naturals butit is friggin awesome but trust me if you decide the flute it will be awesome
and the piccolo is just like a miniture flute and a higher pitch!.

saxophone-the sax is friggin awesome its just like the clarinet but has curves and it also has a reed and make sure to press the correct keys and hold them down and keep just enough mouthpiece in you mouth

and reading music is like reading a book its super easy trust me
when you choose your instrument go to your nearest music shop and ask for a essential elements 2000 book thats what im using now its helped me alot!

GOOD LUCK even tough they may sound hard they are extremely fun and marchin is da bomb
and you cant really decide which one is easier until you have tried them all you might not be able to play a flute or with a reed then again you might not be able to buzz!.
but send me an email when you decide which one you chose
and we are now officially band buddies

Percussion doesn't really require you to read music so much as read rhythms!. And they're marching isn't quite as intense as the rest of the band!.!.
Flute's pretty easy to play, probably the easiest woodwind instrument, seeing as it doesn't have a reed!.
And the section is generally so big that it doesn't make much of a difference if you suck a little bit!.!.
Guard is pretty much a learn as you go thing, so that may be easiest in Marching Band overall!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I play the clarinet and it is by far the easiest!. You'll start off playing pretty simple notes!. the toughest thing about the clarinet is covering up tone holes and you'll learn how to perfect that in a week!. I played for 9 months and was perfectly prepared to join marching bandWww@QuestionHome@Com

Clarinet cuz i play and in marching band clarinets have the easiest parts and it is soo much fun!. Trumpet is harder cuz u need to learn how to blow at different levels but clarinet has only keys u just blow and cover up the holes!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well if you DONT want to learn a instrument u should do color guard!. BUT the funnest instrumentfor marching band is percussion and its easy to learn!. Oh btw trumpet is way hardeer than you think!.
DO PERCUSSION!Www@QuestionHome@Com

probably the trumpet would be the best to go with, not that hard to learn, i would go with it :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I play trombone, I think it's one of the easiest instruments to learn!.

The trumpet is a little harder in my opinion because the mouthpiece is smaller!. The trombone's mouthpiece is a little bigger so I think it's easier to buzz in (starting out)!. If you wanna stick to the three key concept you can play euphonium (same fingerings as a trumpet) and same mouthpiece size as a trombone!.

Another reason to probably play trombone or euphonium is because they usually -- not always but usually -- have less moving parts that are easier to read than clarinet or trumpet who have the melody much more often!. If you're just starting out, that will make it easier for you because reading trombone/euphonium music in comparison to trumpet/clarinet music will be easier!.

I mean other people might not think the same way I do, but that is my opinion!. Whatever you do choose, it'll take a good deal of work but if you have the right mindset you can play any instrument at least half decent within nine months!

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
