It takes some time and effort to increase your vocal range, but with practice, you will be able to!. Here are some suggestions from a couple of singers I know that you can do now!.

First thing to try is to sing a note and see how long you can hold it!.

Breathe from your diaphragm!. Work on breathing with your body and strengthing your diaphragm!. The most important part about learning to breathe freely is to practice noticing how it is that you breathe!. The more you know about your own habits, the easier it will be to release tensions and achieve free-flow while breathing!. When breathing in, pretend you are smelling a flower and when breathing out, pretend there is a lit candle right in front of you, and you need to avoid blowing it out!. Test breathing through your diaphragm!. Bend over at the waist and sing!. Notice the feeling in your stomach and the sound that you create!. Important note: Don't smoke!. Smoking has a detrimental effect on your lung capacity and will restrict your breathing!.

Warm up for a while before starting to sing!. This produces a richer sound as opposed to sounding strained!. For example, in blowing up a balloon, it's easier to blow up if you've stretched the ballon first!. Your vocal chords function in a very similar fashion!.

Find songs that are in your voice range!.

Start practicing scales and slowly increase the pitch each run!. Eventually you will have a higher range and a stronger voice!.

Using your thumb, push the larynx from side to side gently, allowing your vocal chords to loosen, thereby putting less stress on them when you begin to sing!.

Drink lots of water!. Avoid alcohol, milk, hot chocolate and other thick drinks!. Avoid cafeine before singing!.

Practice, practice, practice!. And be patient with yourself!.

It's best to drink tepid water!. This will lessen the 'shock' to your vocal chords!. Sucking on a lemon-honey cough drop will also help!. Don't eat heavy type meals before singing!.

Stretch your vocal chords before singing!. Do some warm up exercises, such as scales, before singing, even when singing at home!. It's just like an athlete warming up before an event!.

If your singing voice is naturally low, Don't strain yourself too much to reach higher notes in the beginning!. After practicing these steps you will be able to reach a higher range!.

Important!. Singing high notes from scratch is not advisable as you could damage your vocal chords, it is far wiser and safer to gently sing up the scale as this gently stretches your vocal range!.

also consider taking vocal training with a professional vocal coach!. Breathing correctly is key to expanding your vocal range and a pro can show you how to do it properly!. A good vocal coach will know your proper pitch as well as the ins and outs of developing your singing skills and can help keep you on track!. Good luck to you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
