Can a person learn how to play real drums by practicing rockband?

Question: Can a person learn how to play real drums by practicing rockband!?

I've heard that there are ways to learn how to play the real guitar by practicing guitar hero and stuff but I've always wanted to play drums and cant have a real drumset or drum lessons!. Will RockBand help me for if I ever really decide to learn to play the drums!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's definitely not the same as real drums!. Rock Band is a video game and is really the opposite of what a real drummer does!. Rock Band "drummers" follow the beat on the TV screen!. Real drummers SET THE BEAT for the rest of the band to follow!.

That said, it can help with your sense of timing!. The drum controller (let's be real about this - it's a video game controller) is designed more in the vein of an electronic drumkit than an analog one!. Rock Band 2 does give the "kit" the capability of doing a "solo practice" session in which you can bang around on the controller without having to play along with the songs!.

If you're young enough to still be in school, then look into the school's music department!. Most school's will have a drumkit (that's not a marching band drum)!.

Or maybe you have friends that have real drums and they can be kind enough to let you knock around on theirs!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

NO!. Playing Guitar Hero will NOT help you learn to play real guitar in any way!. That's like saying that playing a flight simulator computer game will help you learn to fly a real airplane!. It just doesn't work that way!. Playing RockBand will not teach you to play real drums either!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
