I am a piano performance freshman and today I performed Sonata in C minor, Hob!. XVI/20 by Haydn for my piano master-class!. The mast-class professor asked me how long I had been playing the piece and I said two weeks!. He said it was a short time to familiarize myself with it and perform!.

How long do you usually spend on one piano solo!? Level of difficulty!? and what kind of performance are you preparing for!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Many of the great performers spent up to three years perfecting a piece!. I usually take about a year for anything I'm going to play in public; for something simple I would take at least three months!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
