Question: When playing the clarinet, or another similar instrument, what does 'going over the break' mean!?

It means when you go from the lower register to the upper register!. There's a noticeable "Break" in the tone quality as you go up past where you have all the holes open and then start using the octave key!. Part of learning to play well is going over the break with no change in quality!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

going over the break is generally referred to going from low A to B, cause you go to another octave and you go from using one finger to all fingers!. For a beginner it tends to be difficult!. That's how it is for clarinet at least!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It could mean you held your note or played longer than the sheet music directed!. Just a guess!. Now you''ve got me curious so I have to check your other answers hehe

aha! now I know!. =)

number 2 answer gave me a thumbs down! boo! lol thumbs down to you too! jkWww@QuestionHome@Com
