Question: What should you do when you get casted as "Waitress #4"!?
So yesterday were the auditions for the upcoming school play, and there are 7th & 8th graders auditioning!. I audition, with acting/singing/dancing!. I suck!. I get casted as THE BOTTOM ON THE LIST! My acting was fair, but I got really nervous and sounded really bad when singing, and my dancing got screwed because of my memory span of a goldfish (3 seconds)!. So this morning, the list was posted up on the drama room door, and I go there with my “so-called” bus friends!. They get the 2 main leads (how ironic, huh!?), and I get casted a WAITRESS!. I may/may not even HAVE ANY LINES!. And they keep bragging!. Especially one of the 2!. But they are so conceded!. They think they have such magnificent voices, but they have “okay/good” voices!. I feel really bad, like I want to quit the drama club/play!. I never sing or dance when my parents are around, so it’s hard to practice singing & dancing!. I FEEL LIKE SUCH A FAILURE! Any advice!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Whilst I love having lines, NOT having any or very few can mean less stress and greater freedom!. NEVER get into the "I'm better than you" game, no matter how tempting!. Small roles often lead to bigger ones, and the experience is all good for the resume!.

Look at Karl Urban's work in The Bourne Supremacy!. Sheer brilliance and virtually no lines!. But WHAT a role, and so well played!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't quit! Think of this as a chance to practice and get better!. If you were nervous at the audition then rehearsals should help you get used to performing in front of people then the actual play will really help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What do they say!? No small parts just small actors!. The only thing you can do is the best of your ability!. Just do that part the best you can and hope someone notices you for the next performanceWww@QuestionHome@Com

Practice makes perfect! Keep singing and dancing and soon you'll be a pro!. Just think, if you keep improving your skills (and you're only in what--7th grade!?), by the time you finish high school, you might be able to get a better role in a much better play! Then you could go on to drama school and star on Broadway! And then one day you'll look back on Waitress #4 and laugh! HAH HAH HAHAHAHAHA! Waitress #4! I'm Sandy in Grease now!. HAHAHAHAHAHA! And those girls you know who had the lead!? Living in a trailer park with nine kids and a deadbeat husband !. !. !. LOL

Or at least that's how I see it playing out!. You could very well be terrible with singing and dancing and you should just stick to acting!. I don't really know you that well!.

Either way, just keep on keepin' on!. You'll get a better part someday!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
