Is your trem floating or flush to the body!?
If its floating thats why, the broken string decreases tension on the neck and trem springs, in fact even if you have no trem or a flush trem, the decreased tension will affect the other strings (as the tension on the neck will reduce, shortening the length of the strings affacting the general balance)!. Why are you trying to play a guitar with a missing string anyway!? Your guitar is carefully set up and the intonation of each string is set, the imbalance of losing a string will affect everything including intonation (the ability to stay in tune)!. also, dropping the bottom string to D will also affect the tuning of the other strings!. If you want alternate tunings on a guitar it has to be set up right to cope with it, you cant just chop and change whenever and expect if to retain its tuning stability!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
