Question: Is it bad to hold drumsticks too tightly!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes!. Holding the drum sticks tightly will inhibit the natural feel and bounce of the stick, and will keep you from speeding up your playing!. You should hold your sticks lightly but comfortably, back of the hand facing up, putting the most pressure on the stick between your index finger and thumb, and then use the remaining three fingers to pull the stick toward the drum!. You might get away with holding the sticks tight for a little while, but in the long run it's going to hurt your ability to play drags, rolls, and paradiddles smoothly!. Plus, holding tightly is a good way to get carpal tunnel syndrome!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
