Question: Best place to take flute lessons from professionals!?
I really think I have talent to become an excellent flute player!.

I have read about people who take opera lessons in Italy and become almost professional enough to make a career out of it!.

Does anyone know of any place where I can be taught by professional flautists!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am a professional flutist, certified teacher, and competition judge in NY since 1971!. No matter where you live ( within reason !. !. ) there are going to be QUALIFIED people to teach you - there is no sense whatsoever in studying with some HS or college kid, or the sweet old lady down the street, when you can study with someone with credentials and experience!. So - to find the names of qualified people, you need to consult listings of them!. One good way that you can do TODAY is to go to Yahoo Groups and join FLUTENET!. There are well over 3,000 of us there - professional players, teachers, students - who will be able to answer your question!. Please realize than on such a list, we do use our real names - easily checked - and very few people at all choose to use nicknames or screen names!. There are also lists like the one maintained by Larry Krantz in Canada, a yahoo list called *flutist* that gets very little traffic anymore, a list on the NFA site, and a Sir James Galway list, also run by Larry Krantz ( I find that last list a little sycophantic !. !. )

If you live in the USA, then the directory of the National Flute Association will help you!. I do not know if the website will give you referral names - you can try www!.nfaonline!.org!.

If you are are in another country (England, Oz) then again, ask on FLUTENET, and someone will point you to the British Flute Society or the Australian counterpart!.

Of course!. this is all in preparation for auditioning for the finest music school you can get into! I would consider colleges, universities, and conservatories in major cities, where you have a good chance of studying with the principal orchestral player!. This topic has been discussed here before - search completed questions!. GOOD LUCK!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would just keep doing what your doing and find a person in your town/city who you can get private lessons (if you dont already) and do exams or something!. youll get better if you do exams and youll get marked by a professional as well!. also you could go to a major city or something and youd be more likly to find professionals flautists although i think youd have to be a certain level (done up to a certain exam level) to be able to get lessons from them!. my friend got professional lessons when she started 8th grade and she travels to another city every week just for her lesson!. im doing 6th and am with a really good flute teacher in my town!.

hope i helped : > )Www@QuestionHome@Com
