Dark crashes have a more darker tone!.!.!.!.
more washy I guess!. also, thinner crashes are used in like accent like having a 2nd Splash cymbal sort of!. Thinner crashes break much easier too if you are a hard hitting drummer!.

I've had Paiste 2002s which are very bright & loud crashes so I never really owned a Dark crash before because that's not the kind of
tone I wanted!.
I would would suggest going to a Guitar Center and just try out different kind of crashes before you go buy one!. So you know what kind of tone it has!. Hope this helps!.!.!.good luck

Well, the way you use those, they can be almost the same!. But somehow differ in sounds!.!.!.a bit!.

Drummers with lots of cymbals use them for ease in drumming where you can wham whenever you want but still can touch some cymbals!.

Dark crashes have heavy sound that the thin one!. Chinese cymbals are often used together with the hit of the snare!. Rides give you some "ting ting" sound, (even rides have variations in sounds)!.
