Question: EDGE Performing Arts instead of college!?
I love dancing and acting, and ever since I was young I have always wanted to become a professional dancer/actress!. My mom really wants me to go to four year university, and I tell her I will apply, but something in my heart is telling me that college is just not right for me!.

I recently stumbled upon an article about the LA Edge Performing Arts Center, and I want to audition for a scholarship there now and if I get the scholarship attend LA Edge!.

Is this a bad idea!? I don't know if my mother will like it too much, but what are some outside opinions!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If there is one thing I learned in college its to follow your heart!. If what youre learning doesnt have your whole heart!.!.!.you wont succeed!. Its impossible to!. My friend works at a bar, and when I went to visit him he was talking to a woman who was MISERABLE!. She was venting and I heard her say, "I shouldve done what I wanted to instead of what I was expected to!." I looked at her and smiled and I was like helll yeess!. I wasted 2 years of college because of what youre going through!. Fortunately Im dancing my *** off and doing as much music as I possible can!. If you want this!.!.!.!.go for it!. Dont hesitate and dont let anyone else tell you what to do for the rest of your life!. You want to dance, then damnit you tell your parents that by making you go to college, they would be forcing you to do something you dont want to!. They would feel like fools to hold you back!.
Just follow your heart!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Can you do both!? Pursue acting and dancing and go to college!? You can start at a community college (good start, inexpensive, not as scary as starting at a university) and take all the dance and drama classes plus some basics like English, Art History, Science!. If you get some college experience, it will look better for your resume or portfolio plus you will be glad you did it!. You can go part-time, too!.

The college-level acting/dance classes would give you a good start and would know how to get into the industry!. You could get a dance scholarship! The teachers usually are actors, dancers, etc!. themselves!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Follow you dreams!.

In the end, we need to please ourselves and make ourselves happy, and in turn that will make the people who love us happy!.

Have a back up plan!. Not all performers make enough money to live off!. Your mom is simply concerned for your wellbeing!. :)

also, if she's concerned, tell her if things dont work out, that dancer/actress isn't for you, you will go to college/uni!.

Win/win situation!.

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
